President Ilham Aliyev has received Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Mohammad Reza Rauf Sheibani.

Mohammad Reza Rauf Sheibani passed on to the Azerbaijani President greetings on behalf of the Supreme Spiritual Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah Khamenei, and Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. He said President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and other senior Iranian officials have special respect and reverence for the personality of President Ilham Aliyev and wish the Republic of Azerbaijan and its people continued development.

President Ilham Aliyev said with satisfaction that the relations between the two countries were rapidly developing and were at a high level now.

Stressing that the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Islamic Republic of Iran have strong political ties and were implementing new economic initiatives, the head of state pointed to the importance of the numerous bilateral documents signed between our countries. He said all the issues agreed were being implemented. The President stressed the importance of active bilateral relations from the standpoint of regional cooperation. Recalling his regular meetings with the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mahmoud Admadinejad, President Ilham Aliyev said there was a relationship of friendship between him and the Iranian President. He said the personal contacts with the Iranian President were having a very positive impact on the relations between the two states and the friendly and brotherly ties between our peoples.

The President of Azerbaijan expressed his appreciation for the greetings from the Supreme Spiritual Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah Khamenei, and Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, and asked the Iranian deputy foreign minister to communicate his greetings to the Supreme Spiritual Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Iranian President.
