President Ilham Aliyev and Prime Minister of the State of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu have held a one-on-one meeting.
President Ilham Aliyev and his wife Mehriban Aliyeva greeted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife Sara Netanyahu.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu posed for official photos.
The President of Azerbaijan and the Prime Minister of Israel then had the one-on-one meeting.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said:
Mr. Prime Minister, welcome to Azerbaijan. I am very glad to see you. You are in Azerbaijan for the second time. I am sure that this visit will be very fruitful and strengthen our relations. We met in Davos in January, and now we are meeting in Baku. I am sure that your visit will be pleasant and we will achieve good results.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said:
I am glad to be here for the second time. There are strong relations and close friendship between Azerbaijan and Israel, Azerbaijani and Jewish people. You have preserved the tradition of tolerance and inclusiveness. You and us share common values. Thousands of Jews living in Azerbaijan are playing the role of a bridge between our nations. That is why we have so many issues to discuss.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said:
The Jewish community is a very active part of our society and it is doing a lot to contribute to the development of the country. This, indeed, is a great factor in our bilateral relations.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said:
I am looking forward to discussions on increasing prosperity of our nations, developing cooperation between our governments in a number of areas, including trade and technology.
