Ilham Aliyev received parliamentary delegation of Uruguay

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has received a delegation led by President of the Chamber of Representatives of the General Assembly of Uruguay Gerardo Amarilla.
The head of state stressed the importance of high-level representation of the Republic of Uruguay in the 5th Baku International Humanitarian Forum. President Ilham Aliyev noted the importance of the issues to be discussed at the Forum to all countries. The head of state said a lot of work has been done for the development of dialogue between nations and religions. President Ilham Aliyev stressed the important role of reciprocal visits at different levels in expanding the bilateral relations. Despite Azerbaijan and Uruguay are situated far from each other, there are good opportunities for the development of the bilateral cooperation, the President said. The head of state also expressed confidence that the visit will create good opportunity for the Uruguayan delegation to familiarize themselves with Azerbaijan.
President of the Chamber of Representatives of the General Assembly of Uruguay Gerardo Amarilla conveyed greetings of President Tabare Vazquez to the head of state. He hailed the importance of the 5th Baku International Humanitarian Forum. Gerardo Amarilla said his country supports peaceful settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict in accordance with the norms of international law. He noted that Uruguay will take on non-permanent membership of the UN Security Council in the coming months.
The head of state thanked for the greetings of President Tabare Vazquez, and asked Gerardo Amarilla to extend his greetings to the Uruguayan President.
