Ilham Aliyev familiarized with the construction of Azerbaijani State Museum of Carpets and Applied Folk Arts

President Ilham Aliyev studied the conduct of construction work carried out in the building being constructed for the Azerbaijani State Museum of Carpet and Applied Folk Arts.
A new building of the museum with its foundations laid down in May 2008 on Seaside National Park is being constructed on the basis of the joint project of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and UNESCO. While elaborating the draft of the museum building, a particular priority was given to the national architectural traditions.
Mr.Abulfas Garayev, Minister of Culture and Tourism informed the head of our state about the conduct of construction carried out for the implementation of the project. The total area of a new four-storey building of the Carpet Museum will be 18,446 sq.m. The ground floor of the building will locate special areas for the museum visitors, its administrative and scientific zones, special displays for the storage of museum exhibits while the first floor will host library, scientific center for carpet weaving and marking, souvenirs and books point, and finally, the second floor will have special rooms for negotiations and audio-visual presentations. The third floor will feature exhibition halls and meeting rooms. Archives room, storage, laboratory, restoration and conservation departments equipped with the most sophisticated equipment will be situated in the underground floor of the building. The special area is envisaged also for outdoor exhibition of some monuments and carpets. The museum lobby will have safe type rooms to exhibit gemstones and valuable decorative pieces. The length of the building is 121,25 meters; the width is 22,3 meters. Its height is 18,5 meters.
A new building of the museum will be chosen on the basis of an original architectural design. Plants and bushes will be planted around the building. The museum compound will be constructed in this area. After the commissioning of a new building of the museum, it is envisaged to have the personnel of 200 employees. A new building will add particular beauty to the architectural panorama of Baku.
Having studied the work done insofar, the head of state has given his relevant instructions.
President Ilham Aliyev familiarized also with the conduct of overall reconstruction and restoration work carried out in the territory called the Small City of Venice. Head of state has given instructions to create the most modern entertainment and new services while keeping the previous types of services to enable capital residents and guests of our city to spend effectively their leisure time.
