Ilham Aliyev has accepted the credentials of a newly-appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Guatemala to Azerbaijan, Arturo Duarte Ortiz.

The Ambassador reviewed the guard of honor.

President Ilham Aliyev stressed that Azerbaijan and Guatemala have been fruitfully cooperating within the UN. Expressing his satisfaction with the level of relations in the political sphere, the President of Azerbaijan stressed the need for identifying new areas for cooperation in different directions and exploring the opportunities for establishing mutual trade relations. President Ilham Aliyev emphasized the importance of strengthening relations between our peoples for the development of cooperation.

Ambassador Arturo Duarte Ortiz conveyed the greetings of President of the Republic of Guatemala Alvaro Colom Caballeros. Stressing that the political relations between Guatemala and Azerbaijan were satisfactory, the ambassador pointed to the need for exploring opportunities for cooperation in order to establish good relations between the two countries in other areas as well.

The President expressed his gratitude for the greetings of President of the Republic of Guatemala Alvaro Colom Caballeros and asked to pass on his greeting to the head of the Guatemalan state.
