President Ilham Aliyev attended the opening of AZMDF plant, built in the area of the Absheron region, on the 15th km of Baku-Shamakhy highway.
The employees of the facility welcomed the President warmly.
During the tour of the plant, the President was informed that the raw materials – timber supplies for the manufacture of MDF materials, widely used in the production of furniture, are brought from Russia in wagons and unloaded into a depot for timber storage, with an area of 50 thousand square meters, and are then sorted out. Currently three types of timber are being used. The first stage of production is the processing of raw materials. To this end, trees are peeled off and, then, passed on to the next manufacturing process.
The President was told that the MDF - furniture materials, which had been imported from various countries of the world before, would be produced at the highest quality in Azerbaijan henceforth.
President Ilham Aliyev pressed the button starting the work of the facility and watched the production process. Then, he watched a film, featuring the activities of the plant.
It was also noted that, there are a timber depot, transportation and reception devices, main production equipments, presentation room and an administrative office in the area of the plant, built by AZMDF company, which itself had been founded through private investments in 2006. Production process consists of chopping, splitting the fibers, molding, grinding and coating.
The President was also told that modern technical equipments and devices, supplied with operation programs of the German “Siemens” and Japanese “Mitsubitshi” companies, have been installed at the plant. In order to obtain high-quality products, a laboratory, equipped with the latest microbiological, physical-chemical devices, serves at the plant. To facilitate chemical-biological processes, a special water treatment device, with a capacity of 3 thousand cubic meters, has been installed at the plant. A 100/10/0.4 kWt substation provides electric power to the plant. Production capacity of the plant is 85 thousand cubic meters of wooden plates. This, in turn, means that AZMDF is the largest plant of this kind among the CIS and neighboring countries. Upon reaching its full capacity, the plant will employ 500 people.
It was also mentioned that small parts, corresponding to technological standards, are sent to the washing machine for the manufacture of fiber. In the cleaning process, wood particles are cleared of dust and are fully prepared for the manufacture of fiber. Technologically speaking, fiber manufacturing process is one of the most important stages. Washed wood particles are sent to the vertical tanks of the refiner, where they are saturated with vapor. At the exit from the refiner, synthetic glue and wax are added to the fiber. Mixed with the adhesives, timber fibers are desiccated in a hot air pipe. Because the fiber is still very soft, they are compressed through preliminary pressing, shaped as a carpet and cut into appropriate sizes.
The President was informed that the MDF production line is fully computerized and automated. The operators control the process, only by adjusting the technological parameters.
During the familiarization with the grinding shop, President Ilham Aliyev was informed that this particular workshop has a special role in the production of MDF materials. During the grinding stage, MDF wooden plates become ready for final inspection and certification, in conformity with world standards. The final production stage is the process of coating, which gives exterior design to MDF plates. The MDF plates are laminated in here.
While viewing the finished products, the President was informed that the MDF is different from other materials because of its unique qualities. Thus, functioning of the new plant will have a positive impact on the production of local MDF materials, not lagging behind in quality from foreign materials, and will contribute to the lowering of the current prices for manufactured products.
President Ilham Aliyev expressed satisfaction with the work done, and gave relevant recommendations and instructions.
