President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has visited a statue of nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev in the recreation park named after Heydar Aliyev in Tbilisi.
The President laid flowers at the statue.
The President of Azerbaijan was informed about the work carried out in the park.
The park named after great leader Heydar Aliyev was opened in a ceremony attended by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and the former president of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili, on 14 June 2004. At the center of the park there is a statue of nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev. The first tree in the park was planted by President Ilham Aliyev.
In 2007, after renovation of the park, the place was extensively landscaped, a large number of trees and shrubs planted and benches installed. On 12 May of the same year, the official opening of the recreation park named after Heydar Aliyev was held in a ceremony attended by President Ilham Aliyev, the former president of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili, government officials of the two countries and representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Tbilisi.
It was noted that the park covers an area of one hectare. The project architect is F. Akhundov and sculptor of the monument is People's Artist of Natig Aliyev.
