Ilham Aliyev attended inauguration of remodelled Kangarli District Central Hospital

President Ilham Aliyev has attended the inauguration of the remodelled Kangarli District Central Hospital as part of his trip to the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
The reforms connected to the development of the healthcare sector in Azerbaijan are one of the key vectors of the social policy being implemented by the state. The dedicated policy to develop health care which has been implemented by President Ilham Aliyev in recent years has led to an improvement in the statistics measuring the quality and quantity of health care provided. Drawing up and implementing important healthcare-related state programmes, more reliable health care for the population, providing it with expert medical services are the main priorities of the current healthcare policy. The repair and restoration of medical institutions, equipping them with state-of-the-art facilities, free treatment and free provision of medicines and drugs for citizens, building and opening diagnostic centers in the regions, providing children with all types of medical services are the basis of the healthcare reforms. New institutions making it possible to provide the population with expert medical services, to carry out all types of examinations and treatment have been set up throughout the country to this end.
As in other regions in our country, the healthcare system in Nakhchivan is experiencing a period of the greatest success. Healthcare institutions in the autonomous republic are equipped with facilities meeting the very latest demands. Kangarli Central District Hospital, which has been re-opened following remodelling, is one of the modern medical institutions set up here in the past few years.

Chairman of the Supreme Majlis of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Vasif Talibov informed the head of state of the reconstruction work which had been carried out.
It was noted that the medical institution had been set up on the basis of the Gyvrag rural district hospital. New premises were constructed in 2006 for the hospital which had been located in an adapted building in the village of Gyvrag.
Protecting the health of the population and raising the level of medical services in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic are a most important task today. New healthcare institutions are being built, old ones are undergoing major repairs or are being remodelled and refitted with the most up-to-date medical equipment as part of the wide-ranging reforms under way. In 2000-2005, 48 medical institutions, including the Private Medical Center, the Hygiene and Epidemiology Center, the Duzdag Physiotherapy Center, the Invalid Rehabilitation Center, the Implant-Dent Dental Clinic, the Central Children’s Hospital, the Darydag Hydrotherapy Clinic were built in the autonomous republic, and 35 medical institutions underwent major repairs and remodelling and were fitted with modern medical equipment.
The following were built or remodelled in 2005-2010: the Nakhchivan Remedial and Diagnostic Center; the Kangarli District Central Hospital; the hospital campus in Sharur district which is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities; the Nakhchivan Pulmonary Clinic; the Children’s Rehabilitation Center; the Center for Babies; the Nakhchivan City Medical Emergencies’ Center; the Maternity Center; the Oncological Center; outpatients’ clinics, medical assistance and midwifery units in villages.
While touring the new building President Ilham Aliyev learned that the hospital, which will serve over 30,000 inhabitants of Kangarli district, has been extensively remodelled to the most modern standards. This medical institution stands out by the variety of the services it offers. The complex has in-patient and out-patient departments, three units. It has the following departments which are equipped with the latest medical facilities and instruments: surgical, therapy, paediatrics, gynaecology, infectious diseases, anaesthesiology, critical care, X-ray, physiotherapy, as well as having a reception ward, a maternity ward, a consultation clinic, a laboratory and a first aid station.
It was reported that the entire infrastructure of the hospital has been completely renewed. A staff of 95 medical personnel will work at the hospital.
Open-heart surgery and liver-transplant surgery have been carried out for the first time in the region in medical institutions remodelled thanks to the attention and care by President Ilham Aliyev who has set the goal of turning Azerbaijan today into a country where the latest technology is used.
The construction in the regions over the past few years of hundreds of medical institutions and remedial and diagnostic centers is evidence of the development of the healthcare system. The new medical institutions, the latest medical equipment delivered to the country, serve one goal, first and foremost – to protect the health of the population of Azerbaijan.
Having viewed the conditions created in the hospital, President Ilham Aliyev gave instructions and recommendations related to organizing high-level medical services.
