Presidents of the Caspian littoral States made joint press statements

Following the document signing ceremony of the 3rd Summit of the Heads of State of the Caspian littoral countries, Presidents made joint press statements.
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said that the Summit had been constructive and the documents signed defined clearly the framework of cooperation. President Ilham Aliyev noted that these documents mark an important step for reaching an agreement on issues in preparatory period.
President Ilham Aliyev talked about the decisions reached during the discussions. He stated that instructions had been given to relevant bodies on preparation of a mechanism prohibiting fishing of Caspian sturgeon for five years in the next 3-month period. Also, relevant structures are instructed to conduct negotiations regarding the borders of the national sectors in the Caspian.
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said a foundation for great friendship and cooperation had been laid during Baku Summit.
President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev said important progress had been made on the most crucial issue - defining the legal status of the Caspian, during the discussions. Highlighting the great importance of the signed documents, he noted the constructive atmosphere that the Summit had been held in.
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said the Summit had yielded solid results and expressed his content with the outcomes. Dmitry Medvedev said a great step had been taken on an important issue – on the legal status of the Caspian.
President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow said the Caspian was a sea of peace and cooperation.
The Presidents expressed their gratitude to President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev for the high level organization of the Summit.
Then, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev made a speech and in turn, expressed his gratitude to the Presidents of the Caspian littoral states for their contributions to the end results achieved.
