As part of a visit to Ganja, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev attended the opening ceremonies of “Detal Alüminium” aluminum fabrication plants under the “DET-AL Alüminium” LLC.
The Azerbaijani economy keeps developing fast even at a time when the world is experiencing a financial and economic crisis. In light of the orders of President Ilham Aliyev, the main priorities are to diversify the economy and develop the non-oil sector. One of the primary goals is to facilitate further industrial development in the regions. The investments channeled into the non-oil sector of the country are giving an impetus to the development of the Azerbaijani economy and production of quality local commodities. From this perspective, the “Detal Alüminium” aluminum fabrication plants under the “DET-AL Alüminium” LLC in Ganja have made an important contribution to the Azerbaijani economy. Following the decision of President Ilham Aliyev to declare 2014 the Year of Industry in the Republic of Azerbaijan, the activities of these plants serve to accelerate economic industrialization, achieve industrial modernization in line with new initiatives, create modern and competitive industrial spheres, promote industrial development on the basis of innovation and create new jobs.
The President was first familiarized with the aluminum foundry and continuous rolling plant.
It was noted that the foundation of this industrial estate was laid by President Ilham Aliyev in March 2008. In early 2012, the first phase of the complex was put into operation in a ceremony attended by President Ilham Aliyev.
President Ilham Aliyev reviewed the stands describing the development of the aluminum industry in the country, stages of construction and installation of aluminum fabrication plants of the “Detal Alüminium” complex, the technology and production process, types and profiles of products, as well as a video describing these processes.
The Chairman of the State Committee for Property Affairs, Karam Hasanov, informed President Ilham Aliyev noted that the complex contains two modern plants with a production capacity of 50,000 tons, which meet international standards. These plants deal with aluminum foundry and continuous rolling, press processing and dyeing.
The head of state launched the aluminum foundry and continuous rolling plant.
The President of Azerbaijan also examined the stands describing the activities of the plant and a model of the enterprise, watched the production process and familiarized himself with finished products.
The President was informed that in addition to aboveground facilities, the plants have industrial and technical workshops located at a depth of 8-11 meters underground. They cover an area of 8,500 square meters and fully comply with specific process and safety requirements. A great deal has been done to provide the new plants with the necessary infrastructure. There are underground concrete channels 4 km in length, which run high-voltage cable lines on the premises. An up-to-date control room, consumer and other ancillary facilities have also been built.
While examining the foundry and continuous rolling plant with a capacity of 50,000 tons per year, the head of state was informed that it operates eight furnaces and four rolling units. The liquid aluminum retrieved from electrolysis cells will be delivered to the foundry and continuous rolling plant where 6-10 mm rolls and aluminum sheets will be produced from 50,000 tons of aluminum every year.
It was noted that the plant consists of cold rolling and dyeing sections. The new aluminum fabrication plant will produce semi-finished products of different brands in three series. These products will be widely used in the automotive, chemical, food, construction, electrical, communication and other spheres. Talks are already under way on the export of products with companies from Turkey, Italy, Poland, Egypt, Russia and Ukraine.
It was emphasized that the complex would manufacture final products on the basis of the available aluminum in the future. As a result of the operation of the plants, about 300 jobs have been created. In general, the “DET-AL Alüminium” complex employs a total of 1,400 people. The enterprise will make an important contribution to the diversification of the non-oil sector, strengthen the industrial potential of the regions and develop the industry, including non-ferrous metallurgy.
