President Ilham Aliyev received the delegation led by Safa Al-Deen Mohammed Al-Safi, Trade Minister of the Republic of Iraq.

Head of state stressed the high level of relations between Azerbaijan and Iraq in political field. Noting successful co-operation and constant mutual support between the countries within international organizations, President Ilham Aliyev expressed his confidence over further continuation of this support in the future. Touching upon the co-operation in economic field, head of state said that there are wider possibilities to enhance our ties in this sphere and noted the necessity of effective use of these opportunities. President Ilham Aliyev noted that the visit of guest will play an important role in advancing our relationship in economic field. Head of state said that he is informed about many meetings that will be held by Trade Minister Al-Deen Mohammed Al-Safi in our country and expressed his confidence upon good results of these meetings.

Iraqi Trade Minister Al-Deen Mohammed Al-Safi conveyed the greetings from the President of Iraq Jalal Talabani and Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki to the head of state. He congratulated President Ilham Aliyev on the occasion of great achievements gained by Azerbaijan. Trade Minister of Iraq expressed his hope that his visit to Azerbaijan will expand further the ties between two countries and in particular, contribute greatly to the development of co-operation in economic field.

Head of state thank for greetings from the President of Iraq Jalal Talabani and Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki and asked the Minister to transmit also his best regard to the Iraqi President and Prime Minister.
